Reset Button : Am I using it wrong?

What is the proper way to reset the device?
When I hold down the reset button the red light just blinks but does nothing. When I hold power and restart its just showing a red light and nothing happens.
If I pull power and plug back in I get blue flashing lights for a few seconds then nothing. When I hit power its nothing but a red light.
Everything was working great before with the same setup.
Any troubleshooting tips are very much appreciated.
