Is there anyway to wire in a power switch other then removing the on-board one?

I tried the same but unfortunately when I removed the factory keys I damaged the contacts.

2018-06-27 05:13:37 ...this is rev. 1 ....the jumper wire is a little flexible and its loosing contact. With rev. 1.1, I'm using the legs of a LED light (much thinner and they are square so the won't bend) and they work great! Make sure that the legs have a sharp edge in order to "catch" on the solder behind the switch , plus make sure that they do not get in contact with the body of the switch....voila!

2018-05-21 03:00:37 guys, I'm a genius! get two prototype breadboard wires (the ones with the solid pin head) and barely touch the two points behind the ON switch (the two points were everybody is soldering their wires)....while you have it touching the solder point, get a super glue and quickly dab a little glue on the edge of the ethernet port to secure the wire....do the same on the other wire and voila! the least invasive method of having an external switch!!! anonymous

I scratched it with a knife to check the red part.

I tried removing the power switch.
However, SMD type connection sites were separated.
Now my latte panda does not turn off red after connecting power.
I wonder where I can connect the remaining parts to work.

Looking closer, the red part is the connecting part and the blue part is the falling part.
Two upper red lines are expected to be connected.
Can you give me an answer to this? yikeun

Its pretty same reason like everyone else is expressing in this thread. Since most of us use/plan to use Lattepanda for embedded device, its almost never possible to find a placement for it, where all the connectors/buttons are well within direct reach. While you can often overcome this limitation for connectors (sometimes even using widely available cable extenders), it is impossible to do so for buttons soldered directly to the board.
Consider this - even PC motherboards use pinheaders for pwr/reset switch functions, rather then switches itself. From same reason - to allow system integrators have level of freedom they need. This is even more important for embedded solutions. salac.pavel

I heard about this new update also! There's not too much hardware changes I think, considering that it's not a big revision.
As I know, it mainly contains the CPU upgrading (from Z8300 -> Intel Z8350), which has a better burst freq at 1.92GHz and some improvements on BIOS setting, like a new option to enable the "Auto power on" feature (They did that via refreshing bios before).
