Headless Resolution

I have now relegated my original model LP to a purely headless box as it is unable to run 1080p video from iplayer etc without lag (let alone 4k!).
Problem I am having is that because there is no monitor connected it is defaulting to the inbuilt display for the would be onboard display I believe.
So I am getting 1024x600 and remoting in at this resolution is not ideal!
Anyway I can change this to 1920x1080?
