I've got this idea in my head that just wont go away. Then after seeing a video on the LP Alpha I thought that maybe my idea wasn't totally insane. So here is what I can't get out of my brain.

A simple, affordable, scalable, SBC form factor that:
Uses the 15mm 2.5" U.2 drive exterior dimensions. (For rack dimension consistency with current market products)
I/O Expandable via a single SFF-8639 connection (backplanes & enclosures)
Uses a USB-C 3.1 port for standalone operability (power, data, etc)
Has onboard eMMc storage, Wifi/Bluetooth
Arm, RISCV, Intel Y Series Compatible (roughly 5W TDP)

These would be the basics of the form factor that each SBC would conform to. Obviously it would by up to the maker to build more onboard features etc. I just really like the idea that the I/O is not fixed to the board and that it's expandable based on the enclosure. If I don't want five USB ports on every side of the SBC like an octopus I don't have to it. Or if you need that many USB ports then pop on an adapter board etc...

Thats it. I don't have a purpose, answers, plans, ambitions for this idea. Just throwing it out to the world.
