Battery Powered LP Alpha Input Voltage Confusion

According to the official documentation on the website (https://docs.lattepanda.com/content/alph ... /powering/), the "JST PH2.0 4p" connector accepts a voltage somewhere in the range of 11V to 15V. However, it also states that if using a lipo battery, it should be 3 or 4 cells. This is a contradiction, since a fully charged 4 cell lipo puts out ~16.8V, which is obviously more than the stated max voltage of 15V. Can I trust that 16.8V is safe and use the 4 cell lipo battery I already have? Has anyone hooked up a fully charged 4S lipo and verified that nothing smoked or got very hot?

I know the easy solution would be to just get a 3 cell battery to be safe, but my project requires a 4 cell battery for peripherals.

Thanks!
