New BIOS cripples performance

We received a new batch of LattePanda V1 devices and immediately noticed extremely diminished performance.

The new devices have BIOS version:  LP-BS-7-S70CR700-CC55F-A   

Compare the benchmarks by Geekbench:  https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/compare/20471384?baseline=20470302

This is the same board with the New BIOS compared to the old BIOS version: CDJG-BS-7-S70CR700-CC55F-C

Needless to say, we are having to flash all the new deliveries back to this older BIOS.  
Did the LattePanda team not notice this huge performance hit? Or is there some reason for this terrible change?
