Use Arduino to control sound volume?

I have a LattePanda 3 Delta which I've been enjoying quite a bit. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the embedded Arduino to control volume levels? There's a arduino library which makes it behave like an HID device over USB, I'm going to try that first. Has anyone else experience with this?
