black screen on ubuntu 16 image

I am trying to log into ubuntu 16, using the instructions followed here: https://docs.lattepanda.com/content/1st_edition/os/, so I've used rufus to create a drive with this image on it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dSIoytfqzJJCwOrXRoxpgl3WO63gZPhD/view

When I boot the device, I get a black screen, and I'm not sure how to fix. I have disabled MIPI output by going to "north bridge" settings in BIOS, but I'm not sure what else I can do. Any advice would be appreciated
