  • You Reply: It is quite possible that regular Windows 10 maintenance changed or something else caused Suspend to be triggered more frequently. If the LattePanda had a keyboard/mouse, I might not have noticed that it was in a Suspend state. Since it was running headless, I assumed the LattePanda had failed due to a power issue.

  • You Reply: Thanks to SaltGrass and the Microsoft Community Forums (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... bac3778df1), I got one of the LattePandas successfully upgraded to version 2004. In my case, this update requires 21GB of free disk space after the update is downloaded.

Running https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... /setupdiag did not point to any clear cause for the upgrade failure, nor did C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log. SaltGrass noticed that the file C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\SetupAct.log contained:

    Code: Select all

2020-06-13 15:51:56, Info SP Settling on disk space requirements: 2020-06-13 15:51:56, Info SP Full: 21474836480 2020-06-13 15:51:56, Info SP Available: 20133113856 2020-06-13 15:51:56, Info SP CNewSystem::PreInitialize: Low disk space detected. Will enable optimized installation path. 2020-06-13 15:51:56, Info SP NEO installation path is turned off in low disk space scenario. The upgrade continued on from this point for another 2 hours before finally failing during the second reboot. Increasing the free space on the C: drive by about 3GB allowed the upgrade to complete. Part of the reason that this upgrade needed more space is that the c:\Windows.old directory is almost 18GB in size.

My next challenge is upgrading my other LattePanda that has only 11GB free on the C: drive. I will try to move my user data to the E: drive on the microSD card. Another option is the procedure in https://www.thewindowsclub.com/change-w ... -location/.

  • You Reply: Not sure how the post you referenced is related. I have been using an HDMI emulator plug similar to the Digitus DA-70466 to get higher screen size when accessing via VNC.

I am not sure when this problem started, probably in the last two months, which makes me suspect a Windows update may have enabled the Connected Sleep feature or added support for the Cherry Trail processor. I discovered about a month ago that connecting a physical keyboard/mouse would wake up the system but was too busy to diagnose the root cause.

So far, I have not had any re-occurrences after updating the registry, but the problem only happens intermittently - only time will tell.

    Thanks, Norbert
  • You Reply: @Coco Xia, I ran the LattePanda install scripts in both driver folders - in both cases, the commands 'pnputil -i -a bcmdhd64.inf' and 'pnputil -i -a bcmfn2.inf' failed with "Failed to install the driver on any of the devices on the system : No more data is available." I could not find anything in the Event Viewer logs. I also attempted to update the drivers through Device Manager and got "The best drivers for your device are already installed".

I tried uninstalling the drivers via Device Manager and scanning for hardware changes to reinstall the driver - still no joy.

My suspicion is that the Broadcom drivers provided by LattePanda are not compatible with the Fall Creators Edition. I did a search on "VID_02d0 PID_a94d" drivers and finally found driver version 5.93.103.27 at https://drivers.windows10download.com/w ... bit-gjqqk/. I updated to this driver using Device Manager, disabled/enabled the WiFi adapter, and successfully connected to WiFi.

    Problem solved!
  • You Reply: @Coco Xia, I poked around the LattePanda drivers - it appears that LattePanda switched from Broadcom on the v1.0 LattePanda (z8300 processor) to Realtek on the v1.1 and v1.2 LattePandas (z8350 processors. Which WiFi adapter do you have?

I found two sets of Broadcom WiFi adapter code, one in the 'All-in-One Pack' folder structure, the other in 'WIFI & BT\Wi-Fi BT Driver for LattePanda V1.0.zip'. There are differences in the .txt and .map files - not sure if these are important. I am going to re-install the drivers from these two sources and report back.

    Thanks, Norbert
  • You Reply: @Coco Xia, I upgraded yesterday - unfortunately the Broadcom 802.11abgn Wireless SDIO Adapter refuses to initialize (Code 10). When I check the driver details, I only see five drivers: 43241b4rtecdc.bin, 4324b5rtecdc.bin, 43341b0rtecdc.bin. bcmdhd63.sys, and vwifibus.sys. Before the upgrade, there were more drivers, specifically five bcm drivers and a T77H360 driver.

I tried running the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter - although it claimed to have made some changes and did a reboot, the WiFi driver is still not enabling.

Is it possible that we have different LattePanda models? I have the one with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

    Thanks, Norbert
  • You Reply: @Coco Xia, thanks for the update!
  • You Reply: Has anyone successfully upgraded to the Fall Creators Update successfully with full WiFi support?

I ended up rolling back the Creator upgrade in the hope that the problem would get resolved. There seem to be a lot of people having issues with Windows 10 and the Broadcom 802.11abgn Wireless SDIO Adapter, although most of the issues happened with the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. The advice is always to ask the computer manufacturer for a Windows 10 compliant driver.

I use the LattePanda to test out major Windows 10 updates. I also wanted to test out the new Windows Subsystem for Linux to see if a USB support and shared memory issues have been resolved.
  • You Reply: The Status: 0xC0000719 in the migrate step appears to be unrelated to the problem, since I see the same error message in the device properties Event page after the rollback to the previous version of Windows10.
