You Reply: It's been a couple of weeks since i visited this forum, and I tried to use my Lattepanda Alpha again today.
When powering on my lattepanda today, i got a burning smell, and now it's dead ... I did a visual check, and also removed the fan-unit to see if i could notice something, but unfortunately i cannot find anything. I tried a few more times, powering the device using the Lattepanda provided power supply over USB-C, but to no avail.
So definitely something must be wrong with my board ... It's just not normal that it dies on power-on.
To my opinion, it is ready for RMA, but what process should i follow?
Who will provide mee t the authorization to return the board, where to send it, and who will pay the cost for transferring the failed item and replacing it by a new one?
It's sad that a board with so much promise and that price-point fails while it still is under warranty ...
Hoping for a fast response.

No, I don't have a USB ICSP programmer, but I would buy one if that could revive my Alpha.
Do you have any clear instructions on how to do that? From the pictures available on Amazon's site, it's not clear to me where the end of the flat-cable should go. And I really hope it does not require any soldering/desoldering, as I am not good at that.
Regards, and thanks for that suggestion.

You Reply: In the meanwhile the Alpha is lying in my drawer for three weeks already, because i am not able to use it because of this issue.
I am very eager to hear from the team for a solution, assuming a solution to this issue is found. Removing the option for disabling the USB3 ports would prevent people from making the same mistake, but in my view does not solve the issue by itself.
Would not finding a solution for reviving my LattePanda Alpha qualify my board for RMA?

You Reply: I am wondering if the development team ever thought about situations where the BIOS CMOS settings get in a funny state, or even worse, corrupted.
There should be a way to set the BIOS/CMOS to its defaults, not requiring a keyboard or mouse, no? If that is not available, i would consider that as a design flaw.
I would consider buying an M.2 to PCI-E riser card together with a USB3.0 M.2 card, as suggested by css_hello above, but only if that is supported by the Alpha.
Really hoping for a sound solution supported by the Alpha development team.
Thanks,
Marc

You Reply: Hi all,
I've got caught into this particular situation two weeks back, after having stability issues with an SSD connected to the Alpha using USB 3.0.
Trying to get rid of this issue, i disabled USB 3.0 mode in the BIOS of the Alpha for all of the USB ports. I don't exactly remember on which screen in the BIOS that was, unfortunately.
I hope you can offer me a solution, either through pm or docs.lattepanda.com, so i can get the panda going again!
Thanks for your valuable time.
