Which is WAY too big. you need 1.25mm
can't find any smaller ones :/
I could solder wires to the connectors and the board? -

You Reply: damn, thanks anyway. I can find them from a US ebay seller but would have to buy a pack of 100 for 15 bucks and not sure if he ships internationally. are there any more common types of cmos battery connector I might be able to use/find that you know of?
Could I just buy any cmos battery on ebay, and these male/female connectors and use these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-PAIRS-2-Pin ... SwcLxYD9pO
Thanks again -

You Reply: Ok so I got this BIOS programmer:

I'm waiting for another one I bought because I wasn't sure if it would work with the LP:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191674211030
And also this:
WINGONEER SOIC8 SOP8 Test Clip For EEPROM 93CXX / 25CXX / 24CXX in-circuit programming** adapters
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B012VSGQ0Q/
Which I think I need too.
Can I fix my dead LP BIOS with these?
I could really use a better guide than the one in the first page to show me how because this is way out of my expertise. Can anyone help?
Edit: on the bios page it says "Note: LattePanda v1.1 default BIOS Beta can only use in LattePanda v1.1 which is using Z8350 CPU. You can distinguishing between both by the stick on the side of the board. " I couldn't see any CPU numbers because of heatsinks / fans over it, but it says "S70C Rev 1.1", does that mean I have the right board and the flashing the bios just failed and bricked it? -

You might be able to get free samples, if you do, get extras like 4.
As for the battery, this is the exact battery i went with, since it has the right connector.

As for soldering it on, that's on you captain. you'll need a fine tip soldering iron, and a steady hand, it's fairly small. And if you mess up, that's all on you, since there are some very tiny resistors near by. And the ground plain for the side connectors(wings?) is a bit heavy and takes a bit of heat.
I'm OK with soldering, but know where I might be able to get one of those connectors in the UK? Or if you have spare, might be willing to stick a couple in an envelope to me?
Thanks again -
You Reply: some overclocking options in the bios would be good if possible too. I have a fan and heatsinks on mine and it runs really cool.

It's just the acrylic case + fan from the store here:
https://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route ... ct_id=1463
https://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route ... ct_id=1520
Like I say I took the plate cover off the chips, there is only a small thermal pad between the CPU and the plate, so I used some thermal adhesive tape to stick the low-profile copper heatsinks to the CPU and the two chips nearby (RAM?), however with the fan on top of the copper heatsink, it protrudes out of the case so I had to push the ventilation part off that side of the case so the fan would fit, which is fine really, I put some rubber feet on the corners of the fan and other sides of the unit so I can stand it however I like, but if I stand it on top of the fan it's too noisy so I leave it 'upside down'.
I don't think another fan is necessary for the other side like you say, however I really wish there was a way to adjust the speed, and also have the fan shut down when you shut the LP down, because having to unplug it is annoying (also if you want to leave the LP in sleep/hibernate mode, you want to keep it powered, but the fan is too noisy for that)
I'm thinking of adding a resistor to the fan to slow the speed, but adjustable with on/off ability would be best.
If anyone wants I can test the temperature with some stress testing (Prime95?) -
You Reply: Got the acrylic case and fan today, took the plate off the chips on the bottom and used some low-profile copper heatsinks on them and stuck the fan on top, take a look:

Works great, doesn't get hotter than 67c maximum but I haven't done any stressing on it, just normal usage, what temp does it start to throttle at?
I have some questions though. How can I have the fan shut down when the LP powers down to sleep/hibernate or even shutdown mode from win10? it just stays running and I have to unplug it, kind of annoying.
Where the fan connects to the board, looks like there is room for another, can you connect another? If so, would there be any benefit to having it cool the top of the board too?
Thanks -

Managed to get the cpu to drop by 10 / 15c see vid above
so the general gist is that you removed the large metal covers over the chips and put some copper heatsinks on them? I've got copper heatsinks allover the metal covers on the front/back, but still getting 70/80c even when not using intensive stuff. Will an acrylic case+fan help?
I actually tried adding my own fan, but when I connected it to the 3-pin fan connector on the board, the fan barely spins at all, not enough power? are they not fan connectors? is there any way to get more power to a fan? -
You Reply: any way I can buy this RTC connector/battery from you OP?

You Reply: Hi,
Yes, I had to disable driver signature verification in order to install most of them, however after I went through the whole list of drivers the SD card port still fails to work. Same for the audio, even though the realtek drivers installed fine.
would prefer to use win8.1 because it runs faster than win10 for me but really would like to use the sd card port.
which driver in the pack specifically is for the sd card slot?
I also tried installing a generic intel INF driver update pack but no luck.
-
You Reply: do you have a driver for the microSD card slot in windows 8.1? it does not work. I tried disabling driver signing and installing all the drivers but still nothing. it only works in 10 so far. I find it runs 8.1 really much faster too. also the audio drivers don't work in 8.1, or bluetooth/wifi

You Reply: doesn't seem to be any overclock options in the bios unfortunately
